This Wednesday, authorities found the bodies of four decomposed individuals inside a well in the municipality of Mier y Noriega, Nuevo León. The state attorney general, Javier Flores, informed the media about this discovery, which was said to have occurred after an arrest made by the municipal police.
Flores clarified that, despite the discovery, it is not a clandestine grave, but rather a well where the four bodies have been found. "It's not a grave; apparently, it is a well where the bodies have been found; as of now, I think they have located four people there, in a state of decomposition," said the head of the autonomous body.
The prosecutor mentioned that pending genetic tests, among the bodies found could be those of a couple who disappeared a month ago in the municipality of Doctor Arroyo. The couple was reportedly kidnapped by armed subjects after leaving a cockfighting venue, a place where betting and cockfights take place.
The controversy surrounding disappearances in Mexico has increased since March, when a ranch that was supposedly a training camp for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) was discovered in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. In this context, groups of relatives of the disappeared have reported a "death camp."
Relatives of the disappeared have urged President Claudia Sheinbaum to find solutions to locate the more than 120,000 missing persons in Mexico.
